Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer telehealth appointments?
Yes. Flourish Total Health currently offers telehealth appointments for patients located in New Jersey and New York.

What ages do you work with?
I work with adolescents, adults, and older adults.

Do you prescribe medication?
Yes. Treatment may include psychiatric medication management when clinically appropriate. Recommendations are individualized and may also include non-medication approaches, supportive therapy, lifestyle changes, and coordination with other healthcare providers.

Do you prescribe stimulant medications for ADHD?
Yes, when clinically appropriate. Please note that New Jersey law requires an in-person visit for the initial evaluation for stimulant medications, and at least every three months thereafter.

For patients located nearby, home visits may be available if preferred. However, patients are never required to have appointments in their home. Private office space can also be arranged for required in-person visits.

If you have previously been diagnosed or treated for ADHD, please bring a copy of prior records confirming diagnosis and/or past medication treatment when available.
Do you prescribe controlled substances or benzodiazepines?
Controlled substances, including stimulant medications and benzodiazepines, may be prescribed when clinically appropriate and when the potential benefits outweigh the risks.

Flourish Total Health takes a thoughtful and conservative approach to controlled medications, with careful attention to safety, long-term outcomes, medication interactions, and overall functioning.

Patients currently prescribed multiple controlled substances, high-dose benzodiazepines, or complex medication regimens may be referred to a higher level of care or asked to participate in a gradual tapering plan when clinically appropriate for safety reasons.

Do you provide therapy or medication management only?
Both. Some patients are seen primarily for medication management, while others also participate in supportive therapy as part of treatment.

What conditions do you commonly treat?
Common concerns include anxiety, depression, ADHD, stress, burnout, emotional overwhelm, grief, caregiver stress, life transitions, and mood-related concerns. Services are also available for older adults experiencing dementia-related behavioral or emotional changes.

Do you offer weight management services?
Yes. Weight management services may include support for sustainable lifestyle change, metabolic health, and GLP-1 medications when appropriate.

What should I expect at the first appointment?
Initial appointments focus on understanding your concerns, medical and mental health history, current symptoms, goals for treatment, and the broader context of your life. Treatment recommendations are collaborative and individualized.
How often are follow-up appointments?
Follow-up frequency depends on each patient’s individual needs, diagnosis, and treatment plan. Patients starting a new medication or making medication changes may need more frequent follow-up initially.

For patients who are stable on ongoing treatment, follow-up appointments are often scheduled approximately every three months, although this may vary depending on clinical needs and medication type.

Treatment is collaborative, and appointment frequency is discussed together based on what is clinically appropriate and realistic for each patient.
Do you accept insurance?
At this time, Flourish Total Health is a self-pay practice and does not currently participate directly with insurance plans. This may change in the future.

Depending on your insurance plan, you may still be eligible for out-of-network reimbursement benefits. Upon request, an itemized receipt (“superbill”) can be provided for patients who wish to submit claims to their insurance company for possible reimbursement.
How does payment work?
Flourish Total Health is a self-pay practice. Payment is due prior to the start of each appointment.

Patients may conveniently make payments through the patient portal using a credit card. Patients may also choose to securely keep a card on file through the portal for payment of scheduled appointments or outstanding balances in accordance with practice policies.
Information regarding fees, payment methods, scheduling policies, and intake paperwork will be provided prior to the first appointment.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or appointment changes whenever possible.
Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, as well as missed appointments (“no-shows”), may be subject to a cancellation fee.

I understand that emergencies and unexpected situations sometimes occur, and exceptions may be made at the discretion of the practice.

What if I’m nervous about starting treatment or medication?
That’s very common. Treatment decisions are collaborative, and patients are never pressured into starting a medication they are uncomfortable with. The goal is to help patients feel informed, supported, and actively involved in their care.
Is my information confidential?
